प्रार्थना ..(Prayer.)

प्रार्थना में अनंत शक्ति है। शास्त्र में उत्कृष्ट प्रयोजन को प्रार्थना कहा गया है। शुभकामना से की गई प्रार्थना पुराने और बुरे संस्कारों को नष्ट कर देती है। साथ ही कालांतर में बुरे संस्कारों को जन्म ही नहीं लेने देती। स्वार्थ या अशुभ कामना से की गई प्रार्थना भविष्य में बुरे संस्कारों को जन्म देती है। अशुभ प्रार्थना सफल होने पर भी आगामी बुरे बंधन में बंधने के कारण उसका फल बुरा और दुख देने वाला होता है। सबसे उत्तम प्रार्थना निष्काम भाव की होती है। इससे पुराने बंधन अधिक तीव्रता से नष्ट होते हैं। सांसारिक सफलता तो जैसी मिलनी होती है, मिलती ही है, पर आत्मा सांसारिक सुख-दुख से स्वाधीन हो जाती है। प्रार्थना का सबसे बड़ा और उत्तम फल सांसारिक कामनाओं की पूर्ति नहीं, किंतु वीतरागता और परमात्मस्वरूपके भाव में लीन होना है। प्रार्थना में विस्तार होता है। प्रभु नाम उसका संक्षिप्त रूप है। स्थूल से सूक्ष्म बलवान होता है, इसलिए प्रार्थना से नाम ज्यादा प्रभाव रखता है। नाम से परमात्मा के स्वरूप का स्मरण और ध्यान सुगम होता है। नामाक्षरों का चिंतन हृदय में, मस्तिष्क में और शरीर के अन्य किसी भाग में आसानी से हो सकता है। प्रत्येक अक्षर के उच्चारण का प्रभाव शरीर पर और मन पर भी पड़ता है। गीता में भी कर्म फल-त्याग करके भक्ति करने का उपदेश है और बताया गया है कि सभी प्राणियों से मैत्री रखने वाला ममता, अहंकार, क्रोध, भय, इच्छा आदि से रहित, समता और संतोष से युक्त भक्त ही प्रभु को प्यारा है। इससे स्पष्ट है कि प्रार्थना या नाम-स्मरण शुभ भाव से या निष्काम भाव से करना चाहिए। मुख्य तो पवित्र भावना यानी आंतरिक पवित्रता है। क्षेत्र, आसन आदि वाह्य पवित्रता तो गौण हैं। यानी वहीं तक उपयोगी हैं जहां तक कि आंतरिक पवित्रता के लिए सहायक है। जो प्रार्थना करना चाहता है उसे पवित्र भाव से उपवास भी करना चाहिए। इसी प्रार्थना शक्ति के बलबूते मनुष्य अपना जीवन सुखमय और आकर्षक बना सकता है। जैसे ही हमें प्रार्थना की शक्ति का अहसास होता है वैसे ही हमारे भीतर शुभ और सकरात्मक विचारों का उदय आरंभ हो जाता है। यही विचार हमें सफलता की ओर ले जाते हैं।
