सच्चा पुण्य ..(True virtue..)

संत एकनाथ महाराष्ट्र के विख्यात संत थे। वह स्वभाव से अत्यंत सरल और परोपकारी थे। एक दिन उनके मन में विचार आया कि प्रयाग पहुंचकर त्रिवेणी में स्नान करें और फिर त्रिवेणी से पवित्र जल भरकर रामेश्वरम में चढ़ाएं। उन्होंने अन्य संतों के समक्ष अपनी यह इच्छा व्यक्त की। सभी ने हर्ष जताते हुए सामूहिक यात्रा का निर्णय लिया। एकनाथ सभी संतों के साथ प्रयाग पहुंचे। सभी ने त्रिवेणी में स्नान किया। तत्पश्चात अपनी-अपनी कांवड़ में त्रिवेणी का पवित्र जल भर लिया। पूजा-पाठ से निवृत्त हो सबने भोजन किया, फिर रामेश्वरम की यात्रा पर निकल पड़े। संतों का यह समूह यात्रा के मध्य में ही था कि मार्ग में एक गधा दिखाई दिया। वह प्यास से तड़प रहा था और चल भी नहीं पा रहा था। सभी संतों के मन में दया उपजी, किंतु उनके कांवड़ का जल तो रामेश्वरम के निमित्त था, इसलिए सबने मन को कड़ा कर लिया। किंतु एकनाथ से रहा नहीं गया। उन्होंने तत्काल अपनी कांवड़ से पानी निकाल कर गधे को पिला दिया। प्यास बुझने के बाद गधे को मानो नवजीवन प्राप्त हो गया। वह उठकर सामने घास चरने लगा। संतों ने एकनाथ से कहा, ‘आप तो रामेश्वरम जाकर तीर्थ जल चढ़ाने से वंचित हो गए।’ एकनाथ बोले, ‘ईश्वर तो सभी जीवों में व्याप्त है। मैंने अपनी कांवड़ से एक प्यासे जीव को पानी पिलाकर उसकी प्राण की रक्षा की। इसी से मुझे रामेश्वरम जाने का पुण्य मिल गया।’ वस्तुत: धार्मिक विधि-विधानों के पालन से बढ़कर मानवीयता का पालन है, जिसके निर्वाह पर ही सच्चा पुण्य प्राप्त होता है। सभी धर्मग्रंथों में परोपकार को श्रेष्ठ धर्म माना गया है। सही मायने में परोपकार से ही पुण्य फलित होता है। ईश्वर की सच्ची उपासना भी यही है। यही बात संत एकनाथ ने अपने आचरण से साबित किया। सारे संत उनकी बात सुन उनके सामने नतमस्तक हो गए।

(Saint Eknath was a renowned saint of Maharashtra. He was very simple and altruistic by nature. One day he came to his mind that, after reaching Prayag, take a bath in Triveni and then take holy water from Triveni and offer it in Rameshwaram. He expressed his desire to other saints. Everyone has decided to travel together to collect the joy. Eknath reached Prayag with all the saints. Everyone had a bath in Triveni. After that, fill in the holy water of Triveni in their own kanvad. After retiring from worship, all took food, then went out on a journey to Rameshwaram. This group of saints was in the middle of the journey only that a donkey appeared on the road. He was suffering from thirst and was unable to walk. Mercy in the hearts of all saints, but the water of their necklace was in the name of Rameswaram, so all the people tightened their mind. But I did not live with Eknath. They immediately removed water from their necklace and gave it to the donkey. After the thirst was extinguished, the asshole got the new life. He got up and started grazing in front grass. Saints said to Eknath, 'You have been deprived of pilgrimage to pilgrim after going to Rameshwaram.' Eknath says, 'God is in all living beings. I saved my life by drinking a thirsty creature from my necklace and protecting his life. That is why I got the virtue of going to Rameswaram. "In fact, following the practice of religious laws, there is an increase in humanity, on which subsistence brings true virtue. Charity is considered to be the best religion in all texts. In virtually altruism, virtue results from benevolence. This is also true worship of God. This is the same thing that Saint Eknath proved with his conduct. All the saints heard their talk and fell on their faces.)
