मां का विश्वास ....(Mother's faith...)

थॉमस अल्वा एडिसन प्राइमरी स्कूल में पढ़ते थे। एक दिन स्कूल में टीचर ने एडिसन को एक मुड़ा हुआ कागज दिया और कहा कि यह ले जाकर अपनी मां को दे देना। एडिसन घर आए और अपनी मां को वह कागज देते हुए कहा, ‘टीचर ने यह आपको देने को कहा है।’ मां ने वह कागज हाथ में लिया और पढ़ने लगी। पढ़ते-पढ़ते उनकी आंखों से आंसू बहने लगे। एडिसन ने मां से पूछा, ‘इसमें क्या लिखा है मां? यह पढ़कर तुम रो क्यों रही हो?’ आंसू पोंछते हुए मां ने कहा, ‘इसमें लिखा है कि आपका बेटा बहुत होशियार है और हमारा स्कूल नीचे स्तर का है। यहां अध्यापक भी बहुत शिक्षित नहीं हैं। इसलिए हम इसे नहीं पढ़ा सकते। इसे अब आप स्वयं शिक्षा दें।’ उस दिन के बाद से मां खुद उन्हें पढ़ाने लगीं और मां के ही मार्गदर्शन में एडिसन पढ़ते रहे, सीखते रहे। कई वर्षों बाद मां गुजर गई। मगर तब तक एडिसन प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक बन चुके थे और उन्होंने फोनोग्राफ और इलेक्ट्रिक बल्व जैसे कई महान अविष्कार कर लिए थे। एक दिन फुरसत के क्षणों में वह अपने पुरानी यादगार वस्तुओं को देख रहे थे। तभी उन्होंने आलमारी के एक कोने में एक पुराना खत देखा और उत्सुकतावश उसे खोलकर पढ़ने लगे। यह वही खत था जो बचपन में एडिसन के शिक्षक ने उन्हें दिया था। उन्हें याद था कि कैसे स्कूल में ही उन्हें अत्यधिक होशियार घोषित कर दिया गया था। मगर पत्र पढ़ कर एडिसन अचंभे में पड़ गए। उस पत्र में लिखा था, ‘आपका बच्चा बौद्धिक तौर पर काफी कमजोर है।' इसलिए उसे अब स्कूल ना भेजें।’ अचानक एडिसन की आंखों से आंसू झरने लगे। वह घंटों रोते रहे और फिर अपनी डायरी में लिखा, ‘एक महान मां ने बौद्धिक तौर पर काफी कमजोर बच्चे को सदी का महान वैज्ञानिक बना दिया।’
