उपदेश पाने के लिए ..(Preaching to get ..)

स्वामी रामदास हर रोज कहीं न कहीं भिक्षा मांगने के लिए जाते थे। एक दिन वह भिक्षा मांगते हुए एक घर के सामने जा खड़े हुए और उन्होंने आवाज लगाई - रघुवीर समर्थ। घर की स्त्री बाहर निकल आई। उसने उनकी झोली में भिक्षा डाली और कहा,‘स्वामीजी, आप मुझे कोई उपदेश दीजिए।’ स्वामीजी बोले,‘आज नहीं, उपदेश तो कल दूंगा।’ दूसरे दिन स्वामीजी ने फिर उसी घर के सामने जाकर आवाज लगाई - रघुवीर समर्थ। उस घर की स्त्री ने उस दिन बड़े मन से खीर बनाई थी। उसमें बादाम-पिस्ते और मेवा डाले थे। स्वामी जी को देने के लिए वह खीर का कटोरा लेकर घर के बाहर आ गई। स्वामीजी ने उसे देखकर अपना कमंडल आगे बढ़ा दिया। लेकिन यह क्या, वह जैसे ही उस कमंडल में खीर डालने लगी, उसने देखा कि कमंडल में पहले से ही गंदगी और कूड़ा-करकट भरा पड़ा है। खीर डालते-डालते उसके हाथ ठिठक गए। वह बोली,‘महाराज, यह कमंडल तो बहुत गंदा लग रहा है। जाने इसमें क्या-क्या पड़ा हुआ है।’ उसकी बात सुनकर स्वामीजी बोले,‘हां भई, गंदा भी है और इसमें गंदगी भी पड़ी है। किंतु तुम इस सबकी परवाह मत करो और खीर इसी में डाल दो।’ स्त्री बोली,‘नहीं महाराज, ये कैसे हो सकता है? ऐसा करूंगी तो खीर खराब हो जाएगी। जरा दीजिए यह कमंडल, मैं इसे शुद्ध कर लाती हूं।’ स्वामीजी बोले,‘तुम्हारा अर्थ यह है न कि जब यह कमंडल साफ हो जाएगा, तभी खीर इसमें डालोगी।’ स्त्री ने उत्तर दिया,‘जी हां।’ स्वामीजी बोले,‘मेरा भी यही उपदेश है। मन में जब तक चिंताओं का कूड़ा और बुरे संस्कारों की गंदगी भरी है, तब तक उपदेशामृत का कोई लाभ न होगा। उपदेशामृत का पान करना है, तो पहले अपना मन शुद्ध कर लेना चाहिए। तभी उपदेश से सच्चे सुख और आनंद की प्राप्ति होगी।’ कहने का तात्पर्य यह है की जब आपके मन में अहंकार, विद्वेष, और कुविचार रहेगी तब तक सत्संग या उपदेश का कोई लाभ नहीं होगा. इसलिए पहले अपने मन को साफ़ करे फिर सत्संग या उपदेश सुने.

"It means that when your mind's ego, envy, and evil motives will be of no long discourses or sermons. So clear your mind before listening to the discourses or sermons.
