धर्म का मर्म ..(Quintessence of religion ..)

 

चीन में एक दार्शनिक संत नितांत सादा जीवन व्यतीत करने और धर्म की शिक्षा देने के लिए विख्यात थे। बड़ी संख्या में लोग उनके पास आते और परम संतुष्टि का भाव लेकर लौट जाते। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को उसकी प्रकृति के अनुकूल शिक्षा देना और तदनुसार उसे कर्मशील बनाना संत की विशेषता थी। एक दिन उनके पास चुंग सिन नामक एक व्यक्ति पहुंचा। उसने उनसे धर्म की शिक्षा देने की प्रार्थना की। संत ने उस व्यक्ति को कुछ समय तक तो अपने पास रखा, फिर उसे दीन-दुखियों की सेवा में लगा दिया। चुंग सिन इस कार्य में निष्ठापूर्वक लगा रहा। वह बुजुर्गों व लाचारों की खूब सेवा करता, उनका उपचार करवाता, उन्हें यथासमय पथ्य आदि देता। चुंग सिन ने इस कार्य को करने में न दिन देखा, न रात। वह अपना आराम, सुख-चैन छोड़कर असहायों की मदद करने में लगा रहता। किसी को कोई भी कष्ट हो तो चुंग सिन उसे यथाशक्ति दूर करने की कोशिश करता। जब सेवा कार्य करते-करते उसे काफी समय हो गया, तब उसने एक दिन संत से आग्रह किया-‘आपके पास रहते हुए मुझे इतने दिन हो गए है, किंतु आपने मुझे धर्म की शिक्षा नहीं दी।’ संत ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा-‘तुम्हारा जीवन तो यहां रहते हुए धर्ममय हो गया है। फिर मैं तुम्हें इस विषय में और क्या शिक्षा देता? तुम्हें जो कार्य सौंपे गए, उनका पालन तुम पूरी निष्ठा से करते हो, यही सबसे बड़ा धर्म है।’ चुंग सिन को कर्त्तव्य पालन के रूप में धर्म की सही शिक्षा मिल गई। उसने अच्छी तरह समझ लिया कि प्रत्येक कार्य को कर्तव्य पालन का भाव लेकर करना ही सच्चा धर्म है। धर्म पालन से आशय मंदिर-मस्जिद में पूजा या व्रत-उपवास अथवा किसी भी प्रकार के बाहरी आडंबर से नहीं है। सात्विक भाव से कर्त्तव्यपालन ही धर्म का मर्म है।
