जहां नए विचार के लिए रास्ते बंद हों वहां चर्चा करना व्यर्थ होता है ..(Where new ideas are off the path there is pointless to discuss. ..)

हम आज एक ऐसे समय में जी रहे हैं जहां हर सवाल को बहस के केंद्र में रखने के बाद ही जवाब खोजा जाता है। यह गलत भी नहीं है, लेकिन उसमें लंबा समय चला जाता है और कोई फैसला भी नहीं हो पाता। इसके पीछे एक मूल वजह है कि हर किसी की अपनी-अपनी निश्चित धारणा होती है जिससे वे पलटने के लिए तैयार नहीं होते। उल्टे उसे दूसरों पर लादने की कोशिश में हर सीमा को तोड़ने में लग जाते हैं। आज आप टीवी पर होने वाली रोज की बहसों से इसे आसानी से समझ सकते हैं। किसी एंकर से पूछ कर देखिए कि क्या वे किसी दिन किसी निष्कर्ष पर पहुंच पाए हैं।

मुझे कुछ साल पहले का वाकया याद है। मुंबई के समुद्र किनारे बैठकर मैं लहरों का खेल देख रहा था कि कैसे हर लहर किनारे से टकराकर एक-दूसरे में विलीन हो रही है, तभी एक स्वामी मेरे सामने आए और सीधा सवाल दागा कि ‘आपकी मान्यता के अनुसार ईश्वर साकार है या निराकार’। वे बहस के मूड में थे जबकि मैं उससे बचना चाहता था। बहस में अपने अनुभव नहीं, संप्रदाय और मान्यता का आग्रह अधिक बोलता है। पहले से जब सब कुछ तय हो, दूसरों के विचार को कहीं अवकाश ही नहीं मिले, नए विचारों के लिए सारे दरवाजे-खिड़कियां पूरी तरह से बंद हों, तो वहां चर्चा करना बेकार होता है। उन्मुक्त जिज्ञासा भाव से होने वाली तत्व-चर्चा जहां सत्य का द्वार खोलती है, वहीं पूर्व-धारणाग्रस्त चर्चा अक्सर माहौल को कटुता से भर देती है। लेकिन उस दौरान झिझकते हुए ही सही उन्होंने स्वीकार किया कि साकार परमात्मा का साक्षात अनुभव नहीं किया है। तब मैंने कहा कि न आपने साकार ईश्वर का साक्षात अनुभव लिया है न मैंने निराकार का तो फिर बहस में समय जाया करने से अच्छा है कि अपनी-अपनी साधना में लगे रहें।

हम अजीब सी मानसिकता में जीते हैं। जिनके बारे में कुछ भी नहीं जानते उनकी भी सुनिश्चित धारणा बनाये हुए हैं। जिस सत्य का अनुभव नहीं किया उनके बारे में ग्रंथ लिखे जा रहे हैं और भाषण दिए जा रहे हैं। अपने को सही और दूसरे को गलत मान रहे हैं। 

यह सब कुछ ऐसा ही लगता है जैसे अंधे लोग रोशनी के बारे में निर्णय दे रहे हैं। आज स्थिति यह है कि शब्द तो हर परंपरा के पास है, शास्त्र भी हर संप्रदाय के पास है, लेकिन यह कहना कठिन है कि आंख किस के पास है। सत्य यहीं तिरोहित हो जाता है। 

सत्य का साक्षात अनुभव तभी संभव है जब हम मान्यताओं, परंपराओं और धारणाओं-अवधारणाओं से मुक्त होकर उसकी खोज करें। अगर सत्य का साक्षात्कार हो गया तो भगवान के दर्शन तो स्वयं हो जाएंगे।
