सद्गुणों में संतुलन जरूरी ..(Virtues necessary balance ..)

एक दिन एक धनी व्यापारी ने चीन के प्रसिद्ध दार्शनिक लाओत्स से पूछा- ‘आपका शिष्य येन कैसा व्यक्ति है?’ 

लाओत्स ने उत्तर दिया - ‘उदारता में वह मुझसे श्रेष्ठ है।’ 

‘आपका शिष्य कुंग कैसा व्यक्ति है?’ व्यापारी ने फिर पूछा।

लाओत्स ने कहा- ‘मेरी वाणी में उतना सौंदर्य नहीं है जितना उसकी वाणी में है।’

व्यापारी ने फिर पूछा - ‘और आपका शिष्य चांग कैसा व्यक्ति है?’

लाओत्स ने उत्तर दिया- ‘मैं उसके समान साहसी नहीं हूं।’

व्यापारी लाओत्स के जवाब सुनकर चकित रह गया, फिर बोला - ‘यदि आपके शिष्य किन्हीं गुणों में आपसे श्रेष्ठ हैं तो वे आपके शिष्य क्यों हैं? ऐसे में तो फिर उनको आपका गुरु होना चाहिए और आपको उनका शिष्य!’

उसकी बात सुनकर कुछ देर तक तो लाओत्स मुस्कराते रहे, फिर उन्होंने उससे कहा - ‘देखो, ये सभी मेरे शिष्य इसलिए हैं क्योंकि उन्होंने मुझे गुरु के रूप में स्वीकार किया है। और उन्होंने ऐसा दरअसल इसलिए किया है क्योंकि वे यह जानते हैं कि किसी सद्गुण विशेष में श्रेष्ठ होने का अर्थ ज्ञानी हो जाना नहीं है।’

लाओत्स की बातों से व्यापारी की हैरानी बढ़ती ही जा रही थी, लेकिन उसने तय कर लिया था कि वह यह जानकर रहेगा कि असल ज्ञानी है कौन, अंत में व्यापारी ने प्रश्न किया -  ‘तो फिर ये बताएं कि असल ज्ञानी कौन है?’

लाओत्स ने उत्तर दिया- ‘वह जिसने सभी सद्गुणों में पूर्ण संतुलन स्थापित कर लिया हो वही सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी है’

Laots gave the answer: "He has the balance to be complete in all virtues is the biggest knowledgeable')
