खुद को सुयोग्य बनाएं ...(Make yourself worthy ... ..)

अंग्रेजी के प्रसिद्ध लेखक जार्ज बर्नार्ड शॉ का आरंभिक जीवन बेहद संघर्षपूर्ण था। लेकिन तमाम विपरीत परिस्थितियों में भी उन्होंने हार नहीं मानी, और धीरे-धीरे सफलता की बुलंदियां छूते गए। एक दिन उन्हें एक कॉलेज के कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में आमंत्रित किया गया। बर्नार्ड शॉ ने सहजता से आमंत्रण स्वीकार कर लिया और कार्यक्रम के दिन कॉलेज पहुंच गए। उन्हें देखकर कॉलेज के विद्यार्थियों के उत्साह का कोई ठिकाना न रहा। सभी उनकी एक झलक पाने को लालायित हो उठे। कार्यक्रम समाप्त हुआ तो उनके ऑटोग्राफ लेने वालों की एक अच्छी-खासी भीड़ वहां जमा थी। एक नौजवान ने अपनी ऑटोग्राफ बुक उन्हें देते हुए कहा, ‘सर, मुझे साहित्य से बहुत लगाव है और मैंने आपकी कई पुस्तकें पढ़ी हैं। मैं अब तक अपनी कोई पहचान नहीं बना पाया हूं, लेकिन बनाना अवश्य चाहता हूं। इसके लिए आप कोई संदेश देकर अपने हस्ताक्षर कर दें तो बहुत मेहरबानी होगी।’ बर्नार्ड शॉ नौजवान की इस बात पर धीमे से मुस्कराए फिर उसके हाथ से ऑटोग्राफ बुक लेकर एक संदेश लिखा और अपने हस्ताक्षर भी कर दिए। नौजवान ने ऑटोग्राफ बुक खोलकर देखी तो संदेश पर उसकी नजर गई। लिखा था-‘अपना समय दूसरों के ऑटोग्राफ इकट्ठा करने में नष्ट न करें। खुद को इस योग्य बनाएं कि दूसरे आपके ऑटोग्राफ पाने को लालायित रहें।’ संदेश पढ़कर नौजवान ने उनका अभिवादन किया और बोला, ‘सर, मैं आपका यह संदेश जीवन भर याद रखूंगा और अपनी अलग पहचान बना कर दिखाऊंगा।’ बर्नार्ड शॉ ने नवयुवक की पीठ थपथपाई और आगे चल पड़े।
