असफलता का मतलब कुछ कमियां है ..(Failure means has some drawbacks ..)

नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता कथाकार अर्नेस्ट हेमिंग्वे बचपन में बड़े हंसोड़ और नटखट थे। पढ़ने-लिखने में भी तेज थे और ईश्वर ने उन्हें गजब की कल्पना शक्ति भी दी थी। एक बार उनके शिक्षक ने बच्चों से कहानी लिखने को कहा। कहानी लिखने के लिए एक महीने का समय दिया। हेमिंग्वे ने सोचा, कहानी लिखने के लिए एक महीने की क्या जरूरत है। यह तो एकाध घंटे में ही लिखी जा सकती है। दिन गुजरते जा रहे थे, पर वह खेलकूद में मस्त रहे। उनकी बहन ने कई बार कहानी लिखने की याद दिलाई, लेकिन हर बार वह यही कहकर टालते रहे कि कहानी तो एक घंटे में लिख देंगे। कहानी जमा करने के दिन से ठीक पहले की रात को भी हेमिंग्वे की बहन ने उन्हें कहानी की याद दिलाई, पर उन्हें नींद आ रही थी। कहानी सुबह लिख लूंगा, सोचकर वह सो गए। सुबह उठकर उन्होंने हड़बड़ाहट में लिखना शुरू किया। कहानी तो पूरी कर ली, मगर वह उससे संतुष्ट नहीं हुए। उन्हें लग रहा था कि कहानी में भाषा और कथा सूत्रों में सुधार की जरूरत है। समय की कमी के कारण वह चाहकर भी सुधार नहीं कर सकते थे। अंतत: उन्होंने बिना सुधारे ही अधूरे मन से कहानी शिक्षक को सौंप दी। बहरहाल, पुरस्कार किसी और छात्र को मिला। हेमिंग्वे निराश होकर घर लौटे तो उनकी बहन ने कहा,‘हर काम अंतिम क्षणों में निपटाने की आदत के कारण ही तुम्हें पुरस्कार नहीं मिला। इस असफलता से सबक लो और हर काम नियम से समय पर करने की आदत डालो।’ हेमिंग्वे ने अपनी आदत बदल ली। आज दुनिया उन्हें श्रेष्ठ रचनाकार के रूप में याद करती है।
