स्वतंत्रता का आनंद ..(Enjoy freedom ..)

एक समय की बात है। एक सम्राट गहरी चिंता में डूबा रहता। कहने को तो वह शासक था पर वह अपने को अशक्त, परतंत्र और पराजित अनुभव करता था। एक दिन वह अपनी चिंताओं से पीछा छुड़ाने के लिए बहुत दूर एक जंगल में निकल पड़ा। उसे वहां बांसुरी के स्वर सुनाई पड़े। एक झरने के पास वृक्षों की छाया तले एक युवा चरवाहा बांसुरी बजा रहा था। उसकी भेड़ें पास में ही विश्राम कर रही थीं। सम्राट ने चरवाहे से कहा, 'तुम तो ऐसे आनंदित हो जैसे तुम्हें कोई साम्राज्य ही मिल गया है।' चरवाहे ने कहा, 'आप ठीक कहते हैं। मैं सम्राट हूं।' राजा ने आश्चर्य से पूछा, 'ऐसा क्या है, जिसके कारण तुम अपने को सम्राट कहते हो?' चरवाहा बोला, 'व्यक्ति संपत्ति और शक्ति के कारण नहीं, स्वतंत्रता के कारण सम्राट होता है। मेरे पास तो कुछ भी नहीं है सिवा स्वयं के। मैं इसे ही अपनी संपदा मानता हूं। सौंदर्य को देखने के लिए मेरे पास आंखें हैं। प्रेम करने के लिए मेरे पास हृदय है। सूर्य जितना प्रकाश मुझे देता है उससे ज्यादा सम्राट को नहीं देता। चंद्रमा जितनी चांदनी मुझ पर बरसाता है उससे ज्यादा सम्राट पर नहीं बरसाता। सुंदर फूल जितने सम्राट के लिए खिलते हैं उतने ही मेरे लिए भी खिलते हैं। सम्राट पेट भर खाता है और तन भर पहनता है। मैं भी वही करता हूं। फिर सम्राट के पास ऐसा क्या है जो मेरे पास नहीं है। मेरे पास तो एक सम्राट से ज्यादा ही कुछ है। मैं जब चाहता हूं संगीत का सुख लेता हूं, जब चाहता हूं सो जाता हूं, जबकि एक सम्राट चाहकर भी ऐसा नहीं कर सकता।' सम्राट हतप्रभ हो चरवाहे को देखता रह गया।
