सुख त्याग में है. ..( (Happiness is to sacrifice. ..)

भगवान बुद्ध के पास सम्राट श्रोणिक आए और पूछा कि हमारे राजकुमार, जिन्हें हर तरह की सुविधाएं हैं, जो बड़े आवास में रहते हैं, जिनके साथ नौकर-चाकरों की पूरी फौज है, वे प्रसन्न नहीं रहते। और आपके ये भिक्षु जो पदयात्रा करते हैं, खाने को जैसा मिल जाता है, खा लेते हैं, रहने को जो कुटिया मिल जाए वहां रह लेते हैं, इनके चेहरे पर हमेशा इतनी प्रसन्नता रहती है। इसका कारण क्या है? भगवान बुद्ध ने उत्तर दिया, प्रसन्नता खोजनी हो तो अकिंचन (जिसके पास कुछ भी न हो) में खोजो। जिसने संकल्प करके सब कुछ छोड़ दिया, वही प्रसन्न रह सकता है। भिखारी कभी प्रसन्न नहीं होगा, क्योंकि उसने छोड़ा नहीं है। वह तो अभाव में ही जीवन जी रहा है। अभाव का जीवन जीने वाला कभी प्रसन्न नहीं रह सकता। चिंताएं हर क्षण घेरे रहती हैं। जिसने जानबूझ कर छोड़ा है, वह प्रसन्न रह सकता है। ये दो बातें हैं - एक छोड़ना और एक छूटना। जिसे पदार्थ प्राप्त नहीं है, वह त्यागी नहीं है। त्यागी वह होता है, जो अपने स्वतंत्र मन से त्याग कर दे। वही प्रसन्न नहीं रह सकता। साधन, सुविधा संपन्न व्यक्ति भी प्रसन्न नहीं रह सकता। उसे पैसे की सुरक्षा की चिंता सताती है। वह हमेशा भयभीत रहता है। अभय वही हो सकता है, जिसने स्वेच्छा से त्याग किया है। श्रेणिक को अपने प्रश्न का समाधान मिल गया। महात्मा बुद्ध जीवन में मध्यम मार्ग के पक्षधर थे, किंतु उनका भी यही मानना था कि बिना त्याग के व्यक्ति सुखी नहीं हो सकता। यदि अभाव है तो भी चिंताओं है और यदि जरूरत से बहुत ज्यादा है तो भी उसकी सुरक्षा की चिंता है। 

लेकिन आज के परिपेक्ष में मेरा मानना है की त्याग का मतलब ये नहीं की आप वैरागी हो जाए, अपने परिवार की जिम्मेदारी भूल जाये. असल में आज सुखी वही है, जो अपने सीमित संसाधनो में भी,  सुखी रहने का तरीका ढूंढ लेते है, और संतुष्ट होकर सदा प्रसन्न रहते है और परिवार की जिम्मेदारी का निर्वहन बखूबी निभाते है.
