श्रम की गरिमा ..(Dignity of labor ..)

भाग्य और कर्म धरती की सैर कर रहे थे। घूमते-घूमते उनकी नजर एक भिखारी पर पड़ी। भाग्य के मन में दया उपजी और उसने अपनी उंगली से उतारकर सोने की अंगूठी उसे दे दी। अंगूठी बेचकर भिखारी ने कुछ दिन सुख से बिताए। अगली बार जब कर्म और भाग्य दोबारा उधर से गुजरे तो भिखारी को फिर भीख मांगते देखा। इस बार भाग्य ने अपने गले से उतारकर सोने का हार उसे दे दिया। भिखारी के थोड़े दिन और सुख से बीत गए। कर्म और भाग्य तीसरी बार आए तो उन्होंने भिखारी को फिर भीख मांगते देखा। भाग्य को बड़ा क्रोध आया। बोला, कितना भी भला कर लो, यह दरिद्र का दरिद्र ही रहेगा! लेकिन इस बार कर्म के मन में दया आ गई। वह भिखारी से बोला -‘हट्टे-कट्टे हो, तुम कोई काम क्यों नहीं करते? भीख मांगकर कब तक गुजारा चलेगा?’ भिखारी बोला -‘काम-धंधे के लिए पास में कुछ पैसे भी तो हों!’ कर्म ने कहा -‘देखो, मैं तुम्हें एक ठेली फल देता हूं। तुम इन्हें बेच कर धंधा करो।’ भिखारी खुश हो गया। बहुत दिनों के बाद जब कर्म और भाग्य घूमते-घूमते फिर उस नगर में आए तो उन्होंने खूब ढूंढा, पर उस भिखारी के दर्शन नहीं हुए। अंत में जब वे मुख्य बाजार से गुजरे तो देखा भिखारी तो अब फलों का बड़ा व्यापारी बन चुका था। भाग्य उसे देखता रह गया। कर्म ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा, ‘देखा, तुमने इसे भीख में सोना दिया और मैंने इसे श्रम की गरिमा से परिचय कराया। सोना पाकर तो यह निठल्ला बना रहा, लेकिन श्रम का महत्व समझते ही काम में मन लगाकर फलों का इतना बड़ा व्यापारी बन गया।’ भाग्य उसकी बात का मर्म समझ गया। इसलिए भाग्य तभी साथ देता है, जब आप कर्म करते हो.
