भिखारी की सीख ...Beggar learning..)

एक व्यक्ति भीख मांगकर अपना गुजारा करता था। उसका वृद्ध शरीर इतना जर्जर हो चुका था कि उसकी एक-एक हड्डी गिनी जा सकती थी। उसकी आंखों की ज्योति लगभग जा चुकी थी और शरीर में कुष्ठ हो गया था। एक युवक रोज उस भिखारी को देखता। उसे देखकर 

युवक के मन में घृणा और दया के भाव एक साथ उमड़ते थे। वह सोचता, ‘इसके जीने का क्या फायदा? जीवन से इसे इतना लगाव क्यों है? ईश्वर इसे मुक्ति क्यों नहीं दे देते?’  एक दिन जब उससे नहीं रहा गया, तो वह भिखारी के पास 

जाकर बोला, ‘बाबा तुम्हारी इतनी बुरी हालत है, फिर भी तुम जीना चाहते हो और भीख मांगते हो। तुम ईश्वर से यह प्रार्थना क्यों नहीं करते कि वह तुम्हें इस नारकीय जीवन से मुक्त कर दे।’  इस पर भिखारी कुछ देर तक मौन रहा फिर बोला, ‘बेटा, जो तुम कह रहे हो वही बात 

मेरे मन में भी उठती है। मैं ईश्वर से बार-बार यही प्रार्थना करता हूं। पर वह मेरी सुनता ही नहीं। शायद वह चाहता है कि मैं इसी धरती पर बना रहूं ताकि दुनिया वाले मुझे देखें और समझें कि एक दिन मैं उन्हीं की तरह था, लेकिन 

कभी वह दिन भी आ सकता है जब किसी कारणवश वे भी मेरी ही तरह हो जाएं। इसलिए किसी को भी अपने ऊपर किसी भी तरह का अभिमान नहीं करना चाहिए। इंसान की जिंदगी में सब दिन हमेशा 

एक से नहीं रहते।’ युवक भिखारी के शब्दों में छिपी बातों का मर्म समझ गया। उसे लगा कि भिखारी ने उसकी आंखें खोल दी हैं। इसके बाद जीवन भर उसने फिर किसी के जीवन को हेय समझने की गलती नहीं की।
