चरित्र की साधना ..(Silence of character ..)

जीवन यानी संघर्ष यानी ताकत यानी मनोबल। मनोबल से ही व्यक्ति स्वयं को बनाए रख सकता है, अन्यथा करोड़ों की भीड़ में अलग पहचान नहीं बन सकती। सभी अपनी-अपनी पहचान के लिए दौड़ रहे हैं, चिल्ला रहे हैं। कोई पैसे से, कोई अपनी सुंदरता से, कोई विद्वता से और कोई व्यवहार से अपनी स्वतंत्र पहचान के लिए प्रयास कर रहा है, पर हम कितना भ्रम पालते हैं। पहचान चरित्र के बगैर नहीं बनती। बाकी सब अस्थायी है। चरित्र यानी हमारा आंतरिक व्यक्तित्व-एक पवित्र आभामंडल है। यह सही है कि शक्ति और सौंदर्य का समुचित योग ही हमारा व्यक्तित्व है, पर शक्ति और सौंदर्य आंतरिक भी होते हैं और वाह्य भी होते हैं। धर्म का काम है आंतरिक व्यक्तित्व का विकास। इसके लिए मस्तिष्क और हृदय को सुंदर बनाना अपेक्षित है, जो सद्विचार और सदाचार के विकास से ही संभव है। इसके लिए आध्यात्मिक चेतना का विकास आवश्यक है। आध्यात्मिक व्यक्ति की आस्थाएं, मान्यताएं, आकांक्षाएं और अभिरुचियां धीरे-धीरे परिष्कृत होने लगती हैं। उत्कृष्ट चिंतन से जीवन जीने का सलीका आता है। इससे अंतर्मन में संतोष और बाहर सम्मानपूर्ण वातावरण का सृजन होता है। चरित्र एक साधना है, तपस्या है। जिस प्रकार अहं का पेट बड़ा होता है, उसे रोज कुछ न कुछ चाहिए उसी प्रकार चरित्र को रोज संरक्षण चाहिए और यह सब कुछ केवल दृढ़ मनोबल से ही प्राप्त किया जा सकता है। समाज में संयमित व्यक्ति ही सम्माननीय है और वही स्वीकार्य भी। संयम ही जीवन है। अहिंसा की प्रतिष्ठा के लिए संयम प्रधान जीवन-शैली का विकास जरूरी है। आसक्ति, असंयम का प्रमुख कारण है। आसक्ति पर विजय प्राप्त किए बगैर संयम का विकास किसी भी रूप में नहीं हो सकता। मानसिक और सामाजिक शांति और सुव्यवस्था बनाए रखने के लिए अनासक्ति के आदर्श का अनुसरण जरूरी है। आसक्ति से जीवन में स्वार्थ और आग्रह की ग्रंथियां उत्पन्न हो जाती हैं। अहंकार का भाव बढ़ जाता है। मानव-मन को उससे मुक्ति दिलाने के लिए अध्यात्म का आश्रय चाहिए। यह संतुलन की प्रक्रिया है। यही चरित्र की साधना है।
