उपकार का बदला ..(Revenge of beneficence..)

महान विचारक रामतीर्थ किसी परीक्षा की तैयारी कर रहे थे, पर उनके पास परीक्षा शुल्क भरने के लिए पूरे पैसे नहीं थे। उनके बहुत कोशिश करने पर भी पांच रुपये की कमी रह गई। जब पांच रुपयों का इंतजाम किसी भी उपाय से न हो सका तो वह मायूस हो गए। उदास मुंह से वह चंदू हलवाई की दुकान के सामने से निकल रहे थे। चंदू हलवाई की उन पर नजर पड़ी। उसने उनका उदास चेहरा देखा तो आवाज लगाई। पास आने पर उनसे उदासी का कारण पूछा। रामतीर्थ ने बताया कि उनके पास परीक्षा फीस भरने के पैसे पूरे नहीं हो रहे, पांच रुपये कम हैं। चंदू हलवाई ने उसी समय निकालकर पांच रुपये उन्हें दे दिए। अपनी अद्वितीय प्रतिभा की बदौलत गणित विषय में शत-प्रतिशत अंक पाकर रामतीर्थ गणित के प्रफेसर बन गए और वे प्रतिमाह पांच रुपये चंदू हलवाई को भेजने लगे। एक दिन प्रफेसर रामतीर्थ चंदू हलवाई की दुकान के सामने से निकले। हलवाई ने बड़ी विनम्रता से उन्हें अपने पास बुलाया और कहा, ‘अब आप दूध पीने हमारी दुकान पर नहीं आते। आपके द्वारा मनीऑर्डर से भेजे गए 35 रुपये मेरे पास जमा हो गए हैं। मुझे प्रतिमाह आपके द्वारा भेजे हुए पांच रुपए का मनीऑर्डर प्राप्त हो रहा है।’ रामतीर्थ ने उत्तर दिया, ‘यह सब तो आपके उन पांच रुपयों के बदले में है। यदि वे पांच रुपये मुझे मौके पर नहीं मिलते तो मैं आज इस स्थिति में कभी नहीं पहुंचता।’ इसी को हमारी भारतीय वैदिक संस्कृति में सच्ची उदारता कहा जाता है। यदि आप किसी की उदारता के कारण अच्छी स्थिति में पहुंच जाते हैं तो उसके उपकार का बदला चुका कर भी उस व्यक्ति के अहसान को कभी विस्मृत नहीं करना चाहिए। हर व्यक्ति को कृतज्ञता का भाव अपने हृदय में सदैव रखना चाहिए।
