मिथ्या उपलब्धि ..(False achievement ..)

किसी वन में एक बहुत बड़े ऋषि का आश्रम था। उन्होंने कठिन तपस्या करके अनेक सिद्धियां प्राप्त कर ली थीं। इसी कारण उनमें घमंड आ गया था। ऋषि का घमंड दूर करने के लिए एक दिन भगवान ने खुद उनके पास जाने का निश्चय किया। उन्होंने एक साधु का रूप धारण कर लिया और ऋषि के आश्रम जा पहुंचे। भोजन और कुछ देर विश्राम कर लेने के बाद दोनों सत्संग के लिए बैठ गए। तभी साधु के रूप में आए भगवान ने ऋषि से पूछा, ‘महाराज, मैंने सुना है कि आपने अनेक प्रकार की सिद्धियां प्राप्त कर ली हैं। क्या आप किसी को मार भी सकते हैं?’ ऋषि बोले, ‘आपने ठीक सुना है। मैंने तपस्या करके अनेक सिद्धियां प्राप्त कर ली हैं और मैं जिसे चाहूं, उसे मार सकता हूं।’ तभी आश्रम के पास से एक हाथी गुजरता नजर आया। उसे देख कर साधु ने ऋषि से कहा, ‘क्या आप इस विशालकाय हाथी को मार सकते हैं?’ ऋषि ने गर्व से कहा, ‘यह कौन-सी बड़ी बात है!’ उन्होंने धरती से थोड़ी सी मिट्टी उठाई, मंत्र फूंका और देखते ही देखते हाथी पर दे मारा। इसके तुरंत बाद उस विशालकाय हाथी के प्राण-पखेरू उड़ गए। साधु ने कहा, ‘आपने मेरे कहने पर इस हाथी को मारा है, इसलिए अब इसकी हत्या का पाप मुझे ही लगेगा। अतः महाराज, आप इसे अब जीवित कर दीजिए।’ ऋषि ने पुनः अपना मंत्र फूंका और हाथी को जीवित कर दिया। साधु बोले, ‘महाराज, आप में तो विलक्षण शक्ति है। आपने हाथी को मार दिया और उसे पुनः जीवित भी कर दिया। परंतु इससे आपको या किसी को क्या मिला? इन चमत्कारों का क्या अर्थ है? इन सिद्धियों का प्रयोजन क्या है?’ साधु की बात सुन कर ऋ षि सोच में पड़ गए। उन्हें समझ आ गया कि जिस उपलब्धि पर उन्हें गर्व है, वह तो मिथ्या है। मिथ्या उपलब्धि पर गर्व कैसा?
