बड़ा सबक ..(The big lesson..)

पं. रामनाथ एक छोटी-सी  गुरुकुल में छात्रों को पढ़ाते थे। कृष्णनगर के राजा शिवचंद्र को यह पता लगा तो उन्हें बहुत दुख हुआ कि ऐसा महान विद्वान भी गरीबी में रह रहे है। एक दिन वह स्वयं पंडितजी से मिलने उनकी कुटिया में जा पहुंचे और बोले -‘पंडित जी, मैं आपकी कुछ सहायता करना चाहता हूं।’  पं. रामनाथ ने कहा -‘राजन, भगवान की कृपा ने मेरे सारे अभाव मिटा दिए हैं। मुझे अब किसी चीजो की आवश्यकताओं नहीं रही।’ राजा बोले -‘मैं घर खर्च के बारे में पूछ रहा हूं। हो सकता है उसमें कुछ परेशानी होती हो।’  उन्हें जवाब मिला -‘इस बारे में तो गृहस्वामिनी अधिक जानती हैं। आप उन्हीं से पूछ लें।’ यह सुनकर राजा गृहिणी के पास जा पहुंचे -‘माता, आपके घर के खर्च के लिए कोई कमी तो नहीं?’ गृहिणी का जवाब था - ‘भला सर्व-समर्थ परमेश्वर के रहते उनके भक्तों को क्या कमी रह सकती है। पहनने को कपड़े हैं। सोने को बिछौना है। पानी रखने के लिए मिट्टी का घड़ा है। भोजन की खातिर विद्यार्थी सीधा ले आते हैं। बाहर खड़ी चौलाई का साग हो जाता है। इससे अधिक की जरूरत भी क्या है।’ राजा श्रद्धावनत हो गए, फिर भी बोले -‘हम चाहते हैं कि आपको कुछ गांवों की जागीर प्रदान करें। इससे आपको भी अभाव नहीं रहेगा और गुरुकुल भी ठीक से चलता रहेगा।’ राजा की यह बात सुनकर वृद्धा गृहिणी मुस्कराई -‘इस संसार में परमात्मा ने हर मनुष्य को जीवन रूपी जागीर दे रखी है। जो इसे अच्छी तरह से संभालना सीख लेता है, उसे फिर किसी चीज का अभाव नहीं रह जाता।’ यह सुन राजा का मस्तक झुक गया। आज उन्हें एक बड़ा सबक मिल गया था।
